It’s always exciting to see your work in print, and recently one of my summer 2009 Vail weddings was featured in the Colorado Weddings Magazine. To read the full article you will have to pick up one of the magazines, or stop by my studio for a copy. Allison & Brian were super excited to be featured as well, and they sure do deserve it! There wedding day was full of so many unique events & details that I knew it would be good magazine material! Allison & Brian had a beautiful mountain top ceremony at the Summit of Cordillera, and a wedding reception at the Singletree Pavilion in Edwards. There wedding was so fabulous I had to create 3 blog entries for their wedding pictures! To see the full story of their wedding day Part 1 & Part 2 & Part 3

Officially a Green Wedding Vendor for Earth Day 2010
April 22, 2010
In honor of Earth Day I am happy to announce that I am officially a Green Wedding Vendor!
OK, so I’ve been “green” since childhood – I was always into recycling, my barbie doll’s cars were made of reused shoe boxes, and I was VP of the 4-H club in elementary school. I was so into saving the planet, that my mom thought I would find a career involving helping nature or animals, like a park ranger or a vet. My friends in high school called me a tree-hugging hippie because I would get mad if they littered, I did my history project on Woodstock, and loved to find vintage clothes & antiques at thrift stores (and I still do).
I didn’t know being environmentally conscious in the 21st century would find a way of becoming trendy, but I’m very happy that the rest of the world is finally taking notice in the importance of our planet! The government is offering tax incentives for purchasing energy saving appliances, companies are becoming more environmentally aware and even changing their colors to try to prove it (did you notice when all the Wal-Mart signs went from blue to green?), and brides are committing to “green” weddings. Which for some brides means only choosing vendors that are considered “green.” So to make sure potential brides know just how much of a tree-hugger I really am, I got certified as a Green Vendor through Momentville.
I honestly am not changing much about my business, since I’ve always focused on recycling & re-using, but am going to try even harder to only buy recycled materials & cut back on waste. If you’re a bride considering a green wedding, then check out this post on Bridal Tweet about ways to have a green wedding.
And in honor or Earth Day, please enjoy the nature photos below as a reminder of why being green is so important!
Pensacola Beach, Florida – Wedding Pictures
April 19, 2010
Monique & Charles recently wed on the beautiful beaches of Pensacola, Florida. Monique had been dreaming of an intimate beach wedding so they found a rental home and in only 3 months time scrambled together to host a wonderful wedding weekend. I originally warned Monique, my sister, that 3 months to plan a wedding is insane, but with a little help and a lot of determination they very successfully pulled it off! Their original plan was to go to Hawaii, but when realizing the cost and trouble of going so far, they decided to instead have a casual Hawaiian themed wedding at Pensacola Beach. Pensacola, Florida is only a 3 hr. drive from their home in New Orleans and boasts one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. A few things they did to cut back on expenses was they made their own invitations, kept the guest list short, had a “help yourself” bar, and the family & wedding party pitched in the day of to do everything from pick up the cake, to decorate the house, and clean up afterwards. As the sister, maid of honor, and semi-day of coordinator there was no way I was going to attempt to also be the photographer. But I did enjoy helping the wedding photographer with their sunset portraits and taking these pictures. When editing my shots last night I also learned how much a few glasses of champagne can negatively affect my vision and focusing skills, yikes! Monique put me in charge of booking the photographer, and with such short notice (and a small budget) it was quite difficult to find someone that fit my high standards. So thankfully my dear friend and fellow photographer, Molly Plan, was willing to leave cold Colorado for a weekend away at the Florida beaches. Super quick post tonight as I just had to get this up before I left town in the morning…well actually in 4 hours, I better go to bed!
But before I go, here are some of my favorite pictures from a photo shoot I did in City Park, New Orleans of beautiful baby Graham with his parents Krista & Rob. Graham loved being outdoors so much it was quite a challenge getting him to look at us or the camera, instead he just wanted to play with the grass, or better yet eat it! But we managed to get some great shots of him…lots more to come!
Children Photography – Spring Easter Pictures
April 2, 2010Spring signifies new life, bright colors, warmer weather, and Easter celebrations. For this photo session we had all of the above plus 2 unpredictable toddlers.
Toddlers can be a lot of fun to hang out with and photograph….or they can just throw a fit and cry. These girls did both. We had some cute colored baby chicks to play with which the girls adored. However, the girls were unaware of their strength and did not know how to delicately hold the chickens. Afraid of a nighmarish ending reminiscent to a scene from “Of Mice And Men” we decided it was best to put the chickens away and salvage their lives. Ruby was not too fond of that idea and no matter how desperately we tried to bribe her with kind words and popsicles, she screamed and cried for as long as she could last. Allison on the other hand took a melancholy stance as she watched her sister, but had no problems letting me follow her around and pose her for multiple pictures the rest of the day.

While Ruby cried at the sight of her chickens being locked up, her younger sister Allison was a ham for the camera! When you photograph young children, especially toddlers, you just never know what you’re going to get!
