The time has finally come for a winner to be chosen for the “Boudoir Style or Your Style” Bachelorette Party!  To keep things fair my intern picked the finalist and YOU will pick the winner!
The brides to be were asked 1) Why do you want to win a Bachelorette Party  &  2) Why are your girlfriends the best?
Just leave a comment with who you are voting for and the finalist with the most votes (one vote per person please) by June 15th will win. Thank you for all the girls who entered, I had a ton of entries and it was fun to read through everyone’s answers.
Want your own Bachelorette  Boudoir Party?!  Check out this special or let me create a custom package for you! Here are the 8 finalist:

Meghan
- I want to win the Bachelorette Party because I have been wanting to do a boudoir session for a REALLY long time for my fiance. As I have been telling all of my friends about this idea, they have all been getting ridiculously excited about the idea as well. Unfortunately our combined finances do not allow us to do the kind of photo sessions we would like. We have all been unable to agree on a great idea for my bachelorette party so far but I know this would be perfect since it is something we all are trying to do for ourselves anyway!
- My girlfriends are the best because I have been friends with all of them for years, some even since middle school if you can believe it. Instead of just a group of girls who are all fairly similar and who are all interested in the same thing, well, we couldn’t be more different. Seriously, we have it all – conservative, liberal, artistic, rational, irrational (lol), flirty, shy, loud, etc. Despite all of our differences, all of my girlfriends are the most dependable friends I have ever had. We are all very busy with school, work, family, and everything else that life has been throwing at us lately but when one of us is in trouble, no one hesitates to drop everything to help out – kind of like a family but a lot more fun and a LOT less dysfunctional…

Julia
-I want to win the Bachelorette Party because I love my girls so much I would do anything for them. I have survived losing close friends and moving cross country to be with my fiance hundreds of miles from all my family and they have kept me optimistic and helped me make friends here.
-My girlfriends are the best because they listen to all of my rants and crazy bad ideas before they give me a much needed dose of reality and tough love support. I am a good girl from Alabama who needs a wild night out before she gets married!

Kimberly
- I want my Bachelorette Party photographed because I want to remember it forever!
- My girlfriends are the best because they are so giving, helpful, fun, smart, & beautiful!

Brittany
- I want to win the Bachelorette Party because each of the six girls in my wedding party are from different states: Ohio, Tennessee, Colorado, Mississippi, and Pennsylvania. Most of us moved to Memphis to go to school, which is where we met. We all graduated together in 2007. Other than my wedding day there will probably not be another opportunity for us to all be together for several years. This group of women have made a huge impact on my life. I would love the chance to share a special day with them, which would  probably not happen otherwise  because of the expense of traveling across the country to attend a bachelorette party in addition to the wedding. Having the opportunity to get together for a short time like we used to, would be one of the highlights of my year.
- My girlfriends are the best because no amount of time or distance has varnished our relationship. We have all stayed very close even though we have to contend with time zone differences and hundreds of miles between us. We may not get to see each other very often but each one of the women in my wedding plays a vital role in my life.

Avital – I want to win the Bachelorette Party because…. I have had to wait so long to get married because my fiance is currently serving a tour of duty in Afghanistan. When the time finally does come, I want to celebrate as much as I can!
-My girlfriends are the best because…… I’ve known them forever. I have been their bridesmaids and they will be mine. They are genuine, caring, genuine — and fun! — ladies that deserve the best.

Katie
- I want my Bachelorette Party photographed because it’d be memorable.
- My girlfriends are the best because they are supportive, loving and fun.

Nichole
- I want to win the Bachelorette Party because….  my girls are hot and a lot of fun….my name is Nichole and I think it’s a match made in heaven!
- My girlfriends are the best because……  they love to laugh, are no shy and are great to be around with! I can always count on them!

Tamara- I want to win the Bachelorette Party because… as graduate students, my friend Ali and I are both getting married with a minimum of fuss; we haven’t had time or money to kick it and celebrate like we’d like. This would be a way for us lo let go and let down our hair in a safe environment. We spend a lot of time being careful not to do anything that might get back to our students, or slow our program down, or tick our advisers off… If I were to win, there would be two bridal celebrants; Ali (who gets married in July) would never think to enter a contest like this, even though she’s a fantastic dancer. This would also allow me to have all my Maids of Awesome (who live in three cities, across three time zones) together for the first time. Grad students need a break. We’re not bad; we just made bad life choices!
- My girlfriends are the best… because some of them have been around forever; some of them have been front and center for my biggest crashes and burns; some of my friends have stood next to me even as I tried to hurt them, and I have stood by them in similar circumstances. But to a woman, I could not have dreamed up a more diverse and perfect support system. These women are my rocks.

Contest Rules: The winner will receive 1 nights stay in 1 hotel room chosen by Nicole Nichols Photography (in either Denver or New Orleans), champagne, a mini boudoir session for each girl, & a $50 print credit for the bride. The winner will also be given the option to pass on the hotel room & boudoir photos in exchange for having their night documented for up to 3 hours or until I’m kicked out (strip clubs don’t allow cameras). Photos will be revealed at a private Image Unveiling Party at Nicole Nichols Photography studio. Each guest will also receive a $20 print credit .  Nicole Nichols will be your personal photographer and therefore must be available on the requested date.

After a quick rehearsal at The Immaculate Conception Church downtown the wedding party, family, & friends headed to the heart of the Quarter for dinner.  Casey & Chad made a perfect choice to hold their rehearsal dinner at Muriel’s in the French Quarter.  They had a lot of out of town guests that had never experienced New Orleans or the French Quarter before & Muriel’s definitely creates an experience to remember!  When you first enter through the dark lamp lit alley you’re greeted by the restaurant’s resident ghost – Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, or at least by his official table always reserved especially for him and his guest ghost.   The restaurant is a historic architectural masterpiece full of ancient oil paintings, gothic decor, and apparently ancient spirits as well.  The location is right in the heart of the French Quarter on the edge of Jackson Square and directly next to the St.Louis Cathedral.  It has the perfect balcony for watching the random street parade go by, top-notch service, and a to die for cuisine!  OK, now I’m starting to feel like a restaurant critic, but really this place is soo amazing that if you are in New Orleans you have to stop by here… if not for a bite to eat, at least for a few ghost stories from the staff.   Everyone truly enjoyed themselves at Muriel’s & the bride & groom’s childhood slide show & the toasts by their wedding party also created a night full of laughs & tears.  It was a perfect place for an entertaining rehearsal dinner..only to be followed the next night by the perfect wedding at The Immaculate Conception Church & Sheraton Hotel.  Play the short slide show below for a few of my fave shots from the night or view all of the pictures in this online gallery.  Congratulations Casey & Chad!!

A trip to New Orleans is never complete without taking in a live show.  Live music is found everywhere you turn in New Orleans, but the best shows are always the ones at a hard to find small crowded bar full of locals, wannabe locals, cheap drinks, and musicians that love to hang out with their fans before, during, and after their sets.   Vaughn’s is just that along with the added bonus of Kermit Ruffin’s BBQ he grills himself if you get there early enough, and the biggest pot of red beans and rice you have ever seen, free to all those with an appetite, gotta love New Orleans!   My dad first told me the stories of Vaughn’s when I was in high school and he used to go every Wednesday night to catch Kermit Ruffins perform.  I don’t think too much has changed other then Kermit now plays on Thursday nights and has become well known to those that watch the HBO series Treme.   When my sister and I first arrived it was a challenge just getting up to the bar for an Abita beer, much less finding a spot to actually see the band through a hole in the wall that separates the video poker machines from the crowd.  But eventually, with over a decade of crowd maneuvering experience, we were able to score a spot in the front row with just enough space to dance the night away. My first glimpse of Kermit Ruffins was from inside the tiny room that holds the video poker machines, looking through a missing window pane in the wall that separates it from the rest of the bar.  Below you can see how crowded Vaughn’s was that night, without my super wide angle fisheye lens it would have been impossible to capture half these photos.
Abita beer is the local’s beer of choice, especially at Vaughn’s where the counters are filled with nothing but Abita bottles!
My sister & I get our picture with the trumpet legend. On his break Kermit hung out with his fans taking photos, signing CD’s, &  sharing a smoke.  This photo was taken by our new friend of the night – Derek Freeman, thank you Derek!

Zori & Ben have been living in the Denver neighborhood of West Wash Park for a few years but are trying to purchase their first home together outside the city. So we decided to do a shoot around the hood as a way for them to remember their time here together and all the places they like such as Cafe Europa & Pete’s Greek restaurant. This is actually my new neighborhood so I was excited myself to see what fun spots I could find for pictures.  Spring is certainly in full bloom now and we even found a tulip garden that inspired the couple to do a fun yoga pose. We had a great time meandering around and finding unique spots they were not even aware of. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding,  Zori & Ben will be getting married this summer at The Pines at Gennesee, right outside Denver, Colorado.

Still haven’t figured out what to get Mom on Mother’s Day?  Don’t want to fight the crowds at the restaurants or do the same old boring bouquet again?   What is the one thing all moms truly love?  Pictures of their kids!  Do something extra special for your mom this Mother’s Day &  do a fun photo session!  Here are a few ideas on different locations and how to make a day out of it:

1) Start with family photos amongst the drooping oak tress in City Park, then take Mom and the kids to Storyland.
2) Meet at the Riverfront for pictures in front the mighty Mississippi & the historic St.Louis Cathedral in the French Quarter, then take her for beignets at Cafe Du Monde.
3) Breakfast at the Audobon Tea Room, a photo shoot around the lake and beautiful grounds of the park, then bring her to Irma Thomas’ Mother’s Day concert at Audubon Zoo .

This will be the one gift she will truly treasure forever!  I will be in New Orleans on Sunday but only have 2 spots left for a Mother’s Day photo shoot, so if you are interested please contact me by email or at 504-298-5319 asap.

Mother’s Day Special – $245

Includes:

- 45 min. outdoor photo session at the location of  your choice (within N.O. area)
- $75 print credit for Mom
- $50 print credit for yourself
- $25 print credit for any additional separate family members

Boudoir Portrait Session

There are many different reasons a woman chooses to do a Boudoir photo shoot.  Many people do it strictly for themselves, while others for their significant other- as a wedding gift or a surprise to keep those sparks alive!  Some woman do it to celebrate loosing weight or just for a fun adventure to make themselves feel good.  For Molly it was a combination of a few of the above as well as a way to remember & enjoy her young toned body before pregnancy & motherhood had its turn, (stay tuned for maternity pictures to come soon).  This photo shoot was the first one I’ve done at my new home studio and I have to say I was quite impressed with the results!  I was excited to put my new furniture to use and the interior details such as the wooden stairs and stained glass window worked great for the shoot. Of course having a beautiful subject like Molly helps too! Now I’m really excited to see what other kind of photo shoots I can do at my new place!

Check out the slide show below for more pictures from the shoot. Mature audiences only.
