Amanda & Chuck are big fans of the Colorado Rocky Mountains & the great outdoors.  So for there engagement session I met them at their home in Broomfield and then we drove west into the mountains were we found some great spots for pictures.  In the shade it was quite windy & chilly, but Amanda & Chuck were great sports & didn’t let the windchill get to them.  Amanda & Chuck took a drive out here a few days before the shoot & were lucky enough to be welcomed into the home of a local that lives up the mountain with spectacular views around his house.  He invited them to come back for the photo shoot, and we borrowed his patio for sunset, which we were extremely thankful for.  I’m looking forward to photographing their wedding this summer in Broomfield…and even more so now that they told me their reception music will focus around trance & techno  (a wedding with more unique tunes then the typical  “YMCA” & “Electric Slide” is always a big plus in my book!).

Hey brides & grooms to-be, come find me Sunday March 27th at this Free Bridal Show at Green Gables Country Club.  If you have not found the perfect wedding venue for your elegant outdoor Denver wedding you will definitely want to check this place out!  The staff is incredible, food is awesome, and the grounds are beautiful.  Green Gables has views of the mountains & you can even hold your wedding ceremony along the lake.  And if does happen to rain, or you prefer to be indoors, they have a gorgeous indoor space as well.  I have done a few weddings here & below are some links to some Green Gables wedding pictures I have online.  Check out Kate & Alex’s wedding below to see an indoor ceremony, & the other two weddings for more views of the outdoor space.  And of course make sure to come visit me at their Open House, more details below.

Downtown Denver Engagement Photo Shoot

Downtown Denver Engagement Photo Shoot

I recently met up with Faith & Tim in the Benders parking lot where we started their photo session.  When I heard Tim drove a Lotus I knew we had to incorporate his car into some of the shots.  Unfortunately, since Tim is currently living in England & his Lotus has not been driven in a while, they had to jump the car to get it to the shoot, but it was worth it to get this fine looking automobile in the pictures.  After some fun shots with the car we headed down to Lodo together to capture some urban city pictures downtown.  Faith & Tim have a unique funky vintage style, with a love of metal & art,  so the Union Station as well as sculptures around the Millennium Bridge were perfect backdrops for their photo shoot.  Faith & Tim are having a steampunk wedding this summer at The Mile High Station in downtown Denver.  I’m very excited for what is sure to be a very unique & fun wedding to remember!

Mardi Gras day on Frenchmen St.

Mardi Gras Costumes in the French Quarter

This is my first Mardi Gras not being home in NOLA, kinda sad, but trying to enjoy the day regardless, & teaching Coloradans the meaning of “laissez les bon temps rouler!”

If you have never been to Mardi Gras, definitely put it on your bucket list!  Contrary to popular belief, you don’t have to flash to get beads, are there are many other places to party then just Bourbon St.  My favorite area is always Frenchmen St. where the costumes are true works of art, the musicians are playing everywhere, there’s dancing in the streets, and more to see and do then you know what to do with.  Here’s a taste of some of my favorite pictures of Mardi Gras day in downtown New Orleans.
To order a fine art print of these images or other New Orleans & Mardi Gras favorites check out my New Orleans Prints available for purchase online.

Spirit of the South

Above is the slideshow I made of last year’s Mardi Gras, which was one of the most amazing carnivals ever, following the Saints win of the Superbowl.  You can see many more of my collection of Mardi Gras pictures & even purchase a print to remember the festivities all year.

Where do you get a beer drinking bride & groom, and a fight with Elvis??   ONLY in VEGAS!!

Las Vegas, NV wedding portrait by Destination wedding photographer Nicole Nichols

Las Vegas, NV wedding picture

Watch the drama unfold as a drunk couple stumbles to a late night Las Vegas chapel for a wedding they will never forget!
This photo story is full of fighting, romance, and laughter!
Rated PG-13

In case you were wondering…NO this was not a real wedding!  These are all pictures I took during a photo shoot that was staged by international destination wedding photographer, Anthony Vazquez for the annual WPPI convention held in Las Vegas last week.  The couple were not models, but an actual bride & groom (to-be) whom are clients of Anthony’s.  They agreed to fly down from NY for the weekend to pose for this mock photo shoot.   But they certainly proved to be great models, I’m sure all the PBR beer helped  ;-)    Even Elvis, whom owns & runs the Graceland Wedding Chapel took some time out of his busy schedule (his chapel performs between 7,500 – 8,000 weddings annually!!) to get in on the show.  I was very lucky & extremely grateful to be one of the few photographers that Anthony took on his mystery photo shoot.  Anthony & his staff took the time to show us some lighting tricks & share some photography tips as we cruised around Las Vegas with cameras in tow.   Thank you to Anthony Vazquez, Graceland Wedding Chapel, Elvis, & the beautiful bride & groom for all coming together to put this on, it was a blast!!

16th St. Mall Engagement Pictures

Engagement Pictures on 16th St. Mall in Downtown Denver

I was lucky once again for moderate winter temperatures for Valerie & Timothy’s engagement session.  OK, it was still cold, but stayed above 30 & no snow storms to trek through.  We met by the Performing Arts Center, on 14th & Curtis St. in downtown Denver.  I just recently discovered this little area when participating in a Bridal Soiree at Kevin Taylor’s Opera House.  This area of downtown has amazing architecture, fun sculptures, & a bunch of funky spots for pictures.  I couldn’t beleive I had never seen this part of downtown until recently.  I suppose if my husband wasn’t so anti-theatre and would actually go to a play with me I would have discovered it long ago  ;-)   We also took some night time shots around 16th St. Mall & a couple of other various spaces around downtown.
Thanks Val & Tim for leaving it up to me to pick a place for photos, I always get really excited to shoot around new places I find!  This beautiful couple is getting married this summer at the Lower Lake Ranch in Pine, CO & having a reception at the Crystal Rose in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Play the slide show below to view more of their engagement pictures around Denver.
