With so many online directories out there for wedding vendors, is hard to know which one to use!  My intern today found www.weddinglenox.com, which I had to pass on to my bride-to-be followers.   My intern is in the wedding planning process herself so she has been checking out a bunch of different vendor directories but really liked www.weddinglenox.com because when choosing a vendor category you can also choose your budget, which most websites don’t offer.  For instance, when looking up a florist, not only can you choose the city and date of your wedding but you can set your budget for $1000-1500, so you know the florist names that come up will be available for your date and in your price range, pretty cool!

I recently had the pleasure of photographing Brianne & Brennan’s beautiful winter wedding, which took place at Cielo at Castle Pines Event Center in Castle Rock, Colorado. The Cielo is a new wedding venue and this was my first time shooting a wedding there, so I was super excited for this opportunity!  It is always a risk having a winter wedding in snowy unpredictable Colorado, but luckily the skies stayed clear for the wedding day! Everything was gorgeous from the hand painted aisle runner to the elaborate cakes.  And you could certainly tell how much of an impact this couple made on their friends and family, because they had more toasts and tears then I’ve seen in a long time.  Considering how dark a winter night wedding is,  I was also really glad to have my brand new camera and flash.   It was incredible how high I could set my ISO and still get sharp and beautiful pictures.  Night photography is not easy, but having the right equipment definitely helps.  Just check out the detail and lighting in these photos, you can even see the expressions of the people in the backgrounds.  I looove my new gear and can’t wait to use it for my next wedding!

The Embassy Suites in Denver, Colorado is a great find.  As soon as you walk in the door the serene peacefulness of the lobby relaxes you instantly.  It’s very hard to find tropical warmth in the winter time in Colorado, but it can be found at the Embassy! The sky lights which make up the ceiling let in an abundance of light which allows for the Embassy to grow huge beautiful tropical plants filling the bottom floor with palm trees, irises, and luscious growth.   Not only is the natural sunlight great for plants, but its great for photographers!  Many hotels can be nightmares for photographers with their windowless dark hallways.   But the abundant natural light filling the Embassy makes it a great place for pictures.    The Embassy also has superior staff and incredible food!   At their request, I created a sample wedding album consisting of all the events I have photographed for them in the past such as special event set-ups, engagement sessions, and a wedding.   If you want to see samples of what the Embassy can do for your special event, check out the preview book below.  Please keep in mind that you are viewing full page spreads, or 2 pages open flat.

New Logo Design

September 21, 2009

logoSome of you may have noticed a new logo popping up in certain places like my website & letterhead.  For the past few years I was naively under the impression that as an artist I could design my own website, logo, etc…Well, I finally caved in and went with a professionally made flash website (for my wedding section, still working on the site for my fine art, portraiture, & other photo work).  And I recently decided I also needed a professional designer to do a new logo to go with my new name.  I changed my business name from Nicole Marie Photography to take on my newly married name – Nicole Nichols Photography, & wanted to start fresh with all new marketing & design materials.  It was a fun process coming up with my new logo & I wanted to share the steps involved for those of you that may be curious.  And thank you so much Lena at Your KLMN for helping me with my logo!
