Share your love with the Gulf & WIN this print!

Share your love with the Gulf & WIN this print!

The Gulf oil spill is worse then Valdez and will take years if not decades to recover.  It is farewell for a while for Gulf shrimp and sniff…oysters. =(  Growing up in New Orleans, Pensacola Beach, FL, (pictured below) was a favorite annual vacation spot. Along with many other treasured Gulf area beaches, Pensacola has had to deal with oily shorelines, resulting in beach closures, loss of tourist revenue, and dead marine life.   I recently donated a couple pieces of my fine art photography to CHSL to raise funds for this disaster.  Are you a fan of the Gulf Coast? Leave a comment below by Aug 25th answering   “What do YOU love the most about the Gulf?”
My favorite response will win this limited edition signed 8×10 print.

I love the Gulf for so many reasons, where do I even begin? As a little girl, my parents would take my sisters and I to my Godfathers camp in Waveland, MS. Out of all of our family vacations, i looked forward the most to going to the Gulf Coast! We would stay on the beach all day and night, and my favorite memory was collecting hermit crabs, bringing them back to the camp and having hermit crab races!! I treasured those moments and couldn’t wait to bring my son there to make our memories! Then, as the new camp was rebuilt in July 2005, we were making our plans to take my son there for the first time, and Katrina wiped it out, leaving only a slab. I was devestated, feeling like a part of my childhood that i couldn’t wait to share with my own son was gone! That he would never get to have hermit crab races, and create his own memories of the Gulf Coast. The camp was rebuilt and just 2 weeks ago, i was able to take my son to the camp and we started our very own traditions, that i hope to now continue every year, and to carry on when he has children to bring and create their own memories!!! That photo is absoultely beautiful, and i entered this contest bc when i saw it, i thought it was taken right where we go in Mississippi, it looks just like it!! Even if i don’t win, i want you to know how your photo made me feel so good bc great memories were thought of when i saw it, the memories that give you that warm feeling of comfort and familarity when you look at it!!

I can’t compete… I have never been to the Gulf but your picture is the most beautiful thing I have seen in a long time- you are a true artist.

What I love most about the Gulf are my wonderful memories of collecting shells along the west coast of FL with my kids – each discovery was magical!

Also, the gulf was where I felt my baby move for the first time :-)

I just move to the east coast from Denver Colorado after 40 years we took I-10 all the way this picture reminds me of how beauitful and peaceful the gulf can be. I do miss the mountains of Colorado but now I can have new moments visiting here in Florida and looking forward to spending time in the Gulf Coast.
