Colorado Engagement Photographer: Bike Rides & Winter Snow

Ashlie & Dan’s Engagement Pictures

Ashlie & Dan met in the Air Force, have traveled the world, and are now settling down in Colorado.  They spend a lot of time reading books, playing music, and entertaining guests at their house in Aurora, so we started off their engagement date with some fun pictures around their home.

They often take their bikes to the Cherry Creek Reservoir located only about five minutes from Dan’s house.  It is a large beautiful park with lots of open space, a lake, and bike trails.  So we then headed out to the park for some fun pictures with their bikes.  The sunlight was beautiful streaming through the trees.

Its so great for couples to have a fun hobby to do together, and I love incorporating those unique activities in engagement pictures.  Of course wedding pictures are amazing- everyone is elegantly dressed and looks perfect.  But just one reason I love engagement pictures is because it really shows the couple as they normally are… hair down, comfy jeans, and doing the normal non-wedding things they love to do most.

Ashlie & Dan also love to have picnics along the lake so they packed up a picnic basket and brought along a couple beers as well.

Usually the water is high in the lake but this time it was frozen solid!  It wasn’t what we expected but the frozen lake gave us the winter snow look we were hoping for and made for some amazing artistic engagement pictures!

I’m very excited to be photographing their outdoor wedding at the Mountainside Lodge at the Estes Park YMCA this summer!  This casual mountain wedding venue definitely matches their laid-back style and their love for adventure.
