Agnieszka & Ryan’s Picture Preview: Wedding Pictures by Colorado Photographer Nicole Nichols Photography
The day started early as I documented the bride & her bridesmaids getting their hair & makeup done at Indie Six Salon in Denver. This fun hip salon does amazing work, and is a perfect place to get pampered before a wedding. Then it was off to the Retreat at Solterra in Lakewood, the beautiful clubhouse and wedding venue in their neighborhood where the girls finished getting ready for the wedding. Agnieszka was extremely calm for a bride….but I heard it was a different story for the groom who didn’t get any sleep the night before….which certainly happens a lot.
Agnieszka wore a beautiful vintage style wedding dress by Claire Pettibone, full of unique embroidery and lace detail. Her bridesmaids had elegant soft violet dresses and their outfits were completed with bouquets by Nature’s Palette full of a variety of purple roses, baby’s breath, and owl feathers for the bride. I later found out during the groom’s toast at the reception there is whole story behind the owl feathers… its too long and too personal of a story for this blog…but be sure to ask the groom about it next time you see him, he loves to tell a good story. 😉
The groom’s charcoal grey suit from Hugo Boss with a purple tie was a perfect match to the bride’s unique wedding dress. Above the guys pose for a picture in front of the foothills at Cabrini Shrine in Golden, Colorado.
Agnieszka & Ryan held their wedding at Mother Cabrini Shrine. This intimate chapel is in the foothills of Golden west of Denver. Its on top a hill that is surrounded by views of the mountains and of the Denver skyline. I adore this picture above that I captured a split second before their first kiss as bride & groom. The kiss is always a must-have shot….but the few seconds before and after it when you capture the bride & groom looking deep into each others eyes, or throwing their hand in the air in celebration, is the real priceless picture that can never be reproduced.
We took a few pictures at Mother Cabrini Shrine with the foothills in the background and then took off in the limo for their reception at Highlands Ranch Mansion.
The wedding party was so much fun to work with. It was a small group of only four bridesmaids & four groomsmen, which is a great way to keep things a little more simple and more intimate. And its also great when there’s extra room in the limo for the photographer to jump in and document the ride, loving this shot I captured above of the bride & groom stealing a kiss in their limousine!
I love it when the wedding party is up for creative fun ideas. I have lots more silly pictures of the wedding party, and of the groom who loves to goof around. But in an effort to not embarrass anyone too much I’ll limit the ones I show on my blog. I couldn’t however skip posting this picture below of the bride & groom sharing a donut! Agnieszka is a huge fans of Yummy’s donuts, so she made sure to have them for their guests at cocktail hour, and made sure to snatch one for themselves as soon as she could.
Their wedding reception at Highlands Ranch Mansion was catered by Epicurean and Event Rents helped with their wedding decor. They had a vintage yet classic white decor complete with white tulips and white table cloths, and white chairs. And most of their unique wedding details, such as the wedding invitations and signs was made by the creative bride herself.
Their cake above was created by Elegant Bakery with design details to match Agnieszka’s wedding dress. The cake topper matches the wooden ring box that Ryan hand-crafted and surprised Agnieszka with when he proposed with her engagement ring inside….such a creative couple!
There were lots of touching toasts, good food, and of course, lots of dancing! Collin Sipe did a great job as DJ and MC for the reception.
At the end of the night I took Agnieszka & Ryan outside for some romantic night portraits in front of the mansion. Highlands Ranch Mansion is an amazing venue for weddings. Thank you so much Agnieszka & Ryan for trusting me to document your wedding day. It was such a fun wedding, and I’m excited to finish editing the rest of the pictures, more to come soon!
