Laura & John’s Spring Wedding in Golden, CO
If you’re going to spend more money on a dress then you ever have before, make sure its bold and beautiful, make sure that YOU love it. Whether that means its pure white as cotton or comes in a bold navy blue!
You will be doing lots of walking, standing, and dancing on your wedding day, so make sure you’re comfortable too…especially if you find glitter tennis shoes to wear under your wedding dress!
If you’re going to travel across the world to marry the love of your life, make sure you choose a location that is gorgeous, yet accommodating to you and your guests, such as the Golden Hotel.
If you’re going to spend the rest of your life with someone, find your own way to tell them you love them. Even if that is best interpreted by making guacamole together during your wedding ceremony.
If you’re going to throw possibly the biggest and best party of your life, do it your way. Especially if that involves bubble gun fights and silly photo-booth pictures!
And don’t forget to decorate your wedding reception with your favorite items- even if that includes little Lego people. =)
I love my rebellious clients that throw the most unique out of the ordinary wedding celebrations! Laura & John certainly did things their own way and it was awesome! They flew in all the way from Norway to host their destination wedding in Colorado so you better believe they were going to do it right. They focused on all the areas of the day that was most important to them and made sure the wedding reflected their fun quirky personalities. Speaking of fun and unique, check out their urban engagement pictures , which we were able to do on one of their wedding planning trips to Colorado.
One thing I’ve started doing for my brides when time allows, is taking some romantic and sexy boudoir pictures of them before they put on their wedding dress. I politely kick everyone out of the bedroom and allow the bride some time to herself to feel beautiful and sexy. The pictures capture the beauty of the bride and also make great surprise gifts for the groom after the wedding.
Following the bridal boudoir portraits we arranged a 1st sight with the groom where the couple see each other for the first time before the wedding ceremony. This a such a great way to get time alone with your partner and gives you more time for pictures beforehand, which means more time to enjoy your wedding reception with your guests! And trust me, if you have guests flying in from all over the world to attend your wedding, you are going to want to spend as much time as you can with them. We did their first look on the Clear Creek River that flows through downtown Golden. Their wedding took place in late March in the foothills of CO, so there is not a lot of greenery yet and the weather could still be quite chilly, or snowy. Thankfully we had a gorgeous day which made it easy to spend time along the river as well as take plenty of pictures around the streets of downtown Golden.
Some other awesome elements of their unique wedding day…
1) The wedding party got to wear what they wanted…no spending money on a dress they don’t really like and will only wear once, how awesome is that?!
2) Laura & John made guacamole as part of the ceremony, yep you read that right – guac!! The couple makes guacamole together almost every night back home so they found a way to tie all the ingredients into the perfect ingredients to a happy marriage.
3) Lots of yummy Mexican food for their cocktail hour
4) An impressive father- daughter dance. And Laura convinced John to actually do a 1st dance (short and sweet).
5) Their guests put on silly costumes and accessories for pictures at the photobooth we provided for their reception.
6) Laura & John ended the night with a bubble fight with bubble guns, so much fun!
I was thrilled to be a part of their intimate wedding day at the Golden Hotel and there’s probably more details I’m forgetting to mention. So if you were at the wedding and have a memory to share please comment at the bottom of this post. Scroll down to see lots of pictures of their destination wedding day in Colorado.
One of my favorite things to do on the wedding day when there is time is to take a few sexy boudoir pictures of the bride in her hotel room. Bridal boudoir is a great way to capture some intimate portraits that capture your beauty and sexiness with just the simplicity of your wedding day lingerie. We may only have 15 minutes to take a few quick pictures but it’s a unique addition to the traditional wedding day photos and it’s also fun to surprise the groom with some boudoir pictures after the wedding.
VIP- the wedding party
And that’s a wrap! Thank you so much Laura & John for letting me be a part of your intimate, unique, and super fun wedding day! I hope you will cherish your wedding pictures forever.
