Melissa & Jon’s wedding was exactly six months from when I did their engagement pictures at the Mile High Station back in May. They have been planning their wedding for a while and were anxiously awaiting this day. I first met up with the bride at the Magnolia Hotel where she got dressed and prepped for the wedding day.

Then we rode down to Civic Center Park for bridal portraits and pictures with her bridesmaids & bridesmen.

While at the same time my associate photographer Ashley met the guys at their room at the Sheraton Hotel and took them out for some fun pictures along 16th St. Mall.

We got lucky with a stunning pink sunset that night in Civic Center Park.

Their wedding venue- McNichols Civic Center Building, recently underwent a huge renovation and just opened to the public for weddings and private parties. The McNichols building has a formal vintage architectural look from the outside, yet the inside industrial space is full of modern art paintings and sculptures and makes for a perfect unique wedding venue. The bold green and purple lighting totally transformed the space. Posh Linens provided much of the decor along with Biscuit & Berries, & Lisa Weddel Designs.

Their ceremony was also lit up with unique lighting that created a soft romantic feel with candle lights and a few strung white lights. Below Melissa & Jon ring a bell to symbolize their marriage.

Melissa & Jon’s wedding rings laid atop one of their unique boutonnieres.

The modern art made for a great backdrop for some of their wedding pictures. And I loved her unique wedding bouquet created by Lisa Weddel Designs.

After the ceremony we took the wedding party outside for some fun pictures around the McNichols building in Civic Center Park.

The Denver courthouse was lit up purple behind us with the moon glowing in the distance, it was a perfect night for their wedding pictures.

For their first dance Melissa & Jon danced to Someone Like You by Van Morrison. And to complete the look of the dance floor they had a custom light made that read “Love Happens November 8th, 2013,”
Wedding First Dance
Melissa and Jon decided on a non-traditional wedding reception and opted out of a lot of the common events such as the bouquet & garter toss and the cake cut. Instead of a wedding cake they had a table full of their favorite desserts such as carrot cake, cheesecake, and Italian cannolis (my personal favorite)! They also had food stations created by Biscuit & Berries, which allows guests to choose from different freshly prepared food tables, which I think is a great idea yet I rarely see.

Music and entertainment was provided by the high energy dance band Syndicate.
Having lots of fun on the dance floor
Everyone gets pumped up on the dance floor!

It was a fun wedding and I was so glad to be a part of it. Thank you Melissa & Jon for trusting us to document your wedding day, many more wedding pictures to come!
